UM fundraiser hits $1 billion mark

The University of Miami’s Momentum2 fundraising campaign continues to make healthy progress toward its $1.6 billion goal, as UM officials announced on Friday that the campaign has just surpassed the $1 billion mark.

After a period of silent fundraising, UM publicly announced its new campaign in February.

At that point, the university had secured $906 million in donations. The school hopes to hit its $1.6 billion goal by 2016. The money raised will go to a variety of initiatives, including student scholarships, endowed professorships, and construction/renovation of university buildings.
